Wow! To piggy back off the previous Blog post, the students in our Third Grade class showed tremendous improvement on their last Reading test! After reading the week's story using the smartboard, not only did the lesson actively engage the students but it helped improve their comprehension. All of the students passed the test with flying colors, most getting in the high 80% to mid 90% range. The lowest grade was a 76%. That was actually the highest grade on the previous test where most of the students failed! I truly believe that using the smartboard played a part in the improvement of the grades. Unfortunately, when we tried to begin the new story this week, again using the smartboard, the website was down and we couldn't access the student textbook on-line. We then had to call the company only to find out it was unclear when it would be back up. So, we were back to reading the story the "traditional way" and the smartboard was used as a supplement and re-reading later in the week, when the site was up again. To quote my fellow teacher "Technology is great... when it works!"
