My name is Mrs. Gately. I have a BA in Secondary Education from the State University of New York at Oswego. I hold teaching certificates in Social Studies (K-12) and Elementary Education (K-8) and am currently pursuing my Master's Degree in Educational Technology with School Library Media Specialization from New Jersey City University. My first job was teaching high school Social Studies. I taught for eight years and loved every minute of it! After having two children of my own, I decided to look for a new challenge in the Elementary School in our town of Belvidere, NJ. The experience has been enjoyable and rewarding for me! I decided to pursue my Master's Degree in the field of Educational Technology and Library Media for two main reasons: 1- I love to read and learn; and 2- I am intriqued and excited about the endless possibilities that technology offers us to strengthen how we educate our children. Technology plays a large role in my family's every day lives: keeping us in contact with each other through cell phones, playing fun (and often addictive) games on our Ipods, learning through an endless supply of available information on the Internet and, most importantly, allowing my daughter (who is a Type 1 diabetic) the ability to live a normal and healthy life using the remarkable technology of her insulin pump. This is a picture of my family at the annual Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Walk for the Cure, where we raise money to support research which we hope will one day find a cure for diabetes. In my spare time, you will find me out on the field hockey field coaching and playing, as well as spending time with my family!
I am very excited to be involved in the field of Education and hope to help make a difference in the lives of our students!
